Event | Let’s Connect - Innovating from within

Internal innovation only works when employees can help decide and test

18 March 2026 | 16:00 to 17:30 | World Horti Center, Naaldwijk

March 18, 2026 16:00 - March 18, 2026 17:30

World Horti Center, Europa 1, 2672 ZX Naaldwijk, Westland

From innovation project to innovation in daily work

Greenhouse horticulture is under pressure to keep innovating, as automation, data, robotics and new cultivation methods continue to develop rapidly. That is why more and more organisations are looking for ways to organise innovation structurally, without adding separate programmes next to daily work.

During Let’s Connect on 18 March, you will explore how to organise ownership, experimentation and collaboration so that ideas do not remain stuck in a pilot phase. You will hear a practical example from the sector and take away choices you can apply directly in your own organisation.

Let’s Connect programme

In 90 minutes you will hear a practical case and join a conversation that helps make internal innovation tangible. We start with reception and introductions. Raffi Balder from HortiHeroes and Marlieke Lingmont from Lely will then share their experiences with innovating from within, with time for discussion and questions.

We close with a networking drink so you can continue the conversation and build new connections within the horticulture ecosystem.

Programme

  • 16:00 to 16:30 Reception

  • 16:30 to 17:00 Presentation and discussion

  • 17:00 to 17:30 Networking drinks

Why you should not miss Let’s Connect

In many companies innovation is present, yet implementation remains difficult because it is unclear who decides, who tests, and when to scale up or stop. Internal innovation works better when you make clear agreements in advance about roles, room for experimentation and the rhythm of learning, allowing employees to take initiative within clear boundaries.

This makes it easier to learn faster from what works and what does not, and to implement improvements instead of constantly starting over. You will hear how Lely organises this, which choices help, and which approaches in practice actually slow innovation down.

Who should attend Let’s Connect

Let’s Connect is relevant for professionals who want to make innovation in greenhouse horticulture and the broader horti sector tangible within their organisation.

This includes entrepreneurs, innovation managers, business developers, team leads and HR professionals, as well as technology companies in horticulture and agtech that develop solutions together with growers and value chain partners.

Partners from the horticulture ecosystem, such as knowledge institutes and industry organisations, will also attend to share knowledge and strengthen collaboration.

Learning and improving faster through the NXTGEN Hightech ecosystem

Within NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood, companies and partners collaborate on hightech innovation for agrifood and horticulture, with a strong focus on what works in practice. In this edition you will especially see the importance of broadening, as internal innovation becomes stronger when organisations learn from other companies and disciplines within the ecosystem.

You improve your own approach through clearer agreements on ownership, decision making and learning processes, and you accelerate because fewer feedback loops are needed to start, adjust and implement experiments.

In this way, the event connects to the sector’s challenge to adapt more quickly, with people as part of the solution.
