Control Point workshops:
Create a unique position in the value chain.
NXTGEN Hightech offers various initiatives to promote market-oriented development within projects one of these initiatives is the control point workshops. In this article, we explore with Tom van der Horst, Director of Strategy at NXTGEN Hightech, how this initiative can help project partners.
What are control points?
"At NXTGEN Hightech, we aim to create new markets and business opportunities through innovation. While knowledge and technology are crucial, successfully marketing them is equally important. That's why we focus on acquiring control points: strategic business activities that allow a company to claim a unique position in the value chain. This provides companies with a lasting competitive advantage and enables them to fully capitalize on their innovations."
What Is the purpose of the control point workshops?
"The workshops are designed to inspire and guide companies in answering the question: ‘How can my company maintain a distinctive edge over others?’ By focusing on the marketing of innovations through control points, we help companies develop a clear ambition and realize unique innovations. During the workshops, concrete examples are shared, and project partners receive immediately applicable knowledge that they can use within their own organizations. At the project level, we explore how innovations can lead to the acquisition of a control point, significantly increasing the chances of success by strengthening market development."

Why are the control point workshops valuable for project partners?
"During the workshops, we conduct an in-depth exploration of the concept of control points. Using examples from both within and outside the NXTGEN Hightech program, we examine the characteristics and conditions necessary for acquiring control points. We demonstrate how control points are established and provide concrete, practical insights for projects and companies. Several project partners are already actively exploring how their companies can acquire control points. We are eager to support this process and are ready to assist whenever projects request help."
Attend a control point workshop
Several workshops have already taken place, and in the fall of 2024, we will be organizing a session focused on the energy and laser satcom domains. The workshops are open to all project partners but will include concrete examples from these specific domains. You can register through the domain leaders.
