Smarter quality control with Vision/AI
Sanorice is exploring the use of Vision/AI technology for the quality control of rice cakes. This would enable a more efficient and accurate assessment of products. However, successful implementation requires not only technological development but also the acceptance of the change by employees. This research focuses on both the technical feasibility and adoption within the organization.
Broad knowledge question
How do you involve employees in automation?
Sanorice wants to automate part of the production process with Vision/AI, but how do you ensure that employees feel involved and accept the technology? This research focuses on ways to actively engage employees in the digital transformation.
Approach
From technical demo to support within the organization
A technical demo for the quality control of rice cakes was conducted at the test site Qing. In parallel, interactive support sessions were held with employees from various departments, including management, quality, technical service, and production. This allowed for the evaluation of both the technological capabilities and the impact on the workplace.
Goal
From technology to a supported implementation
The goal of this project is not only to gain insight into the technical feasibility of Vision/AI within the production process but also to identify the steps required to implement this technology in a widely supported manner within the organization.
Result and reflection
From insight to action
The combination of a technical demo with the company’s products and interactive sessions led to constructive discussions and greater openness among employees. The research emphasized that, in addition to the technical aspect, attention must also be paid to communication and engagement for innovation to be successfully adopted.
Successful:
The combination of technical demonstrations and support sessions fostered a constructive dialogue within the organization.
The project provided insight into the impact Vision/AI can have on the production process and how it can change the work environment.
Lessons learned:
In addition to technical optimization, it is essential to focus on the vision and the rationale behind the change.
Involving and preparing employees for new technologies is a crucial part of a successful implementation.
