A strategic reality check for exporting, setting up or producing in the US

The United States remains an attractive market, yet the playing field is shifting due to policy changes, tariff measures and investment security. As a result, the key question is often not whether to engage with the US, but through which route export, local presence or production.

During this English-language meeting, you will receive up-to-date insights and practical perspectives from experts, representatives of US states and fellow entrepreneurs, enabling you to make better-informed decisions. Please note that participation is exclusive to FME members.

Programme Doing Business with the US: navigating opportunities and risks

The afternoon programme consists of concise contributions with room for questions throughout, allowing you to move quickly from context to actionable decisions. The event opens with Iris van Vlastuin of Movexx, Marco Workel of FME and Marcel Schulze of EACC Netherlands.

This is followed by three presentations with Q&A by Philip Hammerstein of the US Commercial Service and the US Embassy, Geoffroy Feij of FME and Reinier Schilder of Voestalpine Automotive Components. Topics include business support, EU–US trade policy, tariff mitigation and US-based production.

Site selection is then addressed in a presentation by Nicholette Ross and a panel discussion with representatives from the US states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, South Carolina and Rhode Island, again with Q&A.

After a tour of Movexx and a short break, an expert block follows with brief contributions on US tax, back-office organisation, first hires, foreign exchange, international payments, trade finance and visa strategies.

The programme concludes with an FME entrepreneurs’ panel moderated by Carl van der Zandt of Tarter Krinsky and Drogin, featuring Aron Waas of Boon Edam Group, Marcel van Huissteden of Kiremko B.V. and Lucas Janssen of CEAD Group, followed by a networking reception. The programme ends at 19:00.

Why you should not miss Doing Business with the US: navigating opportunities and risks

You will receive a realistic update on routes into the US and the key execution questions that can make or break your business case, from tariff impact and site selection to staffing, financial flows and regulatory access.

This enables you to assess which risks are manageable, which uncertainties must be factored in and what the most logical next step is for your specific situation. It helps you maintain international ambition without accelerating based on assumptions.

International market orientation within NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood requires strong risk awareness

Within NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood, international supply chains and service contracts are often directly linked to equipment, data and uptime, and therefore to tariffs, compliance, staffing and payment flows.

That is precisely why we share this FME event within the NXTGEN ecosystem. It supports broader international market orientation and improves decision-making through up-to-date context. This enables acceleration where appropriate and prevents delays caused by execution risks that only become visible too late.
