Explore where your horticultural technology can make a difference in India
Are you active in the horticulture sector and looking to explore where your knowledge, technology or innovation could create value in India? From 28 September to 3 October 2026, Dutch companies, startups, scaleups and knowledge institutions can join the economic mission Horticulture and Sustainable Food Systems to Bangalore.
The mission offers access to market insights, matchmaking, company visits, HortiConnect India 2026 and the Netherlands Pavilion. In a short period of time, you will gain a clearer view of relevant contacts, practical challenges, market context and possible next steps in India.
Programme economic mission India
The programme is designed for organisations that want to do more than observe the Indian market. It helps participants understand how the market works and where opportunities may arise.
Participants will join information sessions on doing business in India, with a focus on South and West India and developments in the horticulture sector. The programme also includes company visits, for example in the floriculture, seed and vegetable sectors, as well as visits to an Indo-Dutch Centre of Excellence, a processing company, wholesaler or retail market.
You will also meet Indian companies, knowledge institutions and government representatives during networking activities and individual matchmaking sessions. From 1 to 3 October, HortiConnect India 2026 will take place in Bangalore, during AgriCon 2026. The Netherlands Pavilion will serve as the central meeting point for Dutch participants. You can take part in trade fair activities, present your organisation as part of the joint Dutch presence and, subject to limited availability, choose your own presentation space.
Why this mission is relevant for your market exploration
India offers promising opportunities for Dutch horticulture organisations, but it is also a large market with strong regional differences. That makes reliable context, relevant contacts and insight into local practical needs essential before deciding on next steps.
This mission helps you explore more specifically where your solution, knowledge or technology can connect with the development of sustainable food systems in India. Through the combination of market information, company visits, matchmaking and trade fair participation, you will gain insight into concrete questions from the field, as well as potential partners or customers.
The presence of State Secretary Silvio Erkens of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature gives the mission additional governmental context and visibility. Where relevant, there is also an opportunity to sign a contract, letter of intent or Memorandum of Understanding in his presence.
Who is the economic mission to India relevant for?
The mission is relevant for Dutch companies, startups, scaleups and knowledge institutions working on innovation in and around the horticulture sector.
This includes organisations active in starting materials, cultivation and greenhouse technology, as well as providers of systems for water, energy, climate control, automation, data and smart farming. The programme is also relevant for parties working in post-harvest, logistics, cold chains, storage, sorting, processing, sustainable packaging, precision agriculture, water technology, research and consultancy. For all these organisations, the mission offers a practical way to explore where cooperation with India could take shape.
Where Dutch knowledge meets practical challenges in India
NXTGEN Hightech Agrifood is highlighting this mission because international cooperation helps to assess where technology can be applied in practice. In India, Dutch solutions operate in a different market context, with different growing conditions, supply chains, water challenges and questions around food security. This makes participation valuable for organisations that want to understand where their technology or knowledge fits, which adjustments may be needed and which partners could help take the next step. In this way, the mission creates clearer insight into applications, partnerships and the practical challenges that shape sustainable food production in India.
